| "...When
the Jets entered the NHL in 1979, it prompted feelings of
what was right with the game, the part that I remember when
I was growing up, Winnipeg, a relatively small Canadian city,
with a great hockey heritage, bitterly cold winter nights,
the old asymmetrical arena with the giant picture of the queen,
etc.,... I can't imagine a trip to the Phoenix Coliseum or
whatever it is, will match the atmosphere of a hockey visit
to Manitoba..." - R.P. |
| "My
favorite memory was the game on March 28th 1993. This game
was against the Los Angeles Kings and to me was the highest
point of the Winnipeg Jets organization. By now Teemu Selanne
had broken Mike Bossy's goal scoring record and the other
rookies Zhamnov and Tkachuk were showing amazing promise and
dedication to the game. As well this was the first NHL game
televised live in Finland. It took the Jets to do that....this
was the highest point of dignity and esteem that any team
can have being the first to do something. This dignity is
owned forever by the Jets." - M.J.K. |
| "There
are so many memories that it is tough to select just one.
I think however that my ultimate Jets memory is White Noise.
The playoff atmosphere at the Winnipeg Arena was something
unparallelled anywhere else in sports. This will never be
recreated again anywhere. I'm just glad that I had the opportunity
to experience it on many occasions."- C.S. |
| "My
best memory was probably when I was a kid and wathcing the
Jets in the playoffs for the first time in 1986 when Bandit
Berthiaume made his debut in game#3 when we got swept... But
nothing to me tops the next year in 1987 when we beat Calgary
and went to the second round. I still remember the wang chung
song "Winnipegers wear white tonight....and everybody wear
white tonight.." Winnipeg white outs that year. The first
year of the white out.... And it has stuck ever since." -

| "I
have many favourite memories of the Jets......I'm only 16
but in that time I grew very fond of this team and that players
in the organization. It's hard to pick just one occasion as
my elite. I think my favourite memory was at the Save the
Jets rally in May 1995. When 30,000 people chanted Save Our
Jets I realized how much this team meant to so many people......I
was lucky to attend as many games and functions surrouding
the hockey club as I did and that I was given the chance to
have all these wonderful memories. The Jets will skate forever
in the hearts and minds of Winnipeg hockey fans and I am no
exception."- J.J.H. |
"Even though the jets weren't much as a team it is still hard
to lose them. so from everyone in Pittsburgh 'we will miss
you'"love, Pittsburgh "Dave Ellett scoring in the second minute
of double overtime to help the Jets take a commanding 3 games
to 1 lead on the future Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers
in the 1988 playoffs."- S.S. |
